Design & Manufacturing Engineer

At Iberia Compositech Manufacturing, we are looking for a Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering and Technical Office team at our facilities in Calatayud, Zaragoza.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing composite parts and assemblies and defining their manufacturing processes, ensuring technical feasibility, compliance with customer requirements and the optimisation of manufacturing resources and lead times.

The role also involves providing technical support to production throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Design composite parts, tooling and assemblies using CAD tools in accordance with technical and customer requirements.

• Define the most suitable manufacturing processes for each product, including lay-up, curing, machining and assembly, optimising lead times, costs and quality.

• Prepare and validate manufacturing technical documentation, including drawings, technical instructions, routings and process specifications.

• Design and specify tooling and moulds required for manufacturing, coordinating with external suppliers when necessary.

• Monitor prototypes and first production runs, resolving design or process issues identified on the shop floor.

• Collaborate with the Quality team in defining control plans and analysing non-conformities related to design or manufacturing processes.

• Provide technical support to production and cleanroom teams, resolving questions related to drawings and technical instructions.

• Participate in root cause analysis of recurring manufacturing issues and propose design or process improvements.

• Collaborate with Sales and Project teams during the technical quotation phase, assessing manufacturing feasibility, lead times and costs for new products.

• Support continuous improvement and manufacturing process optimisation projects, focusing on reducing production times, scrap and material consumption.

• Stay up to date with new technologies, materials and composite manufacturing processes.

Requirements:

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related engineering field.

• 2–3 years of experience in the design and/or manufacturing of composite parts.

• Previous experience in the aerospace, automotive or marine industries will be highly valued.

• Knowledge and experience with CAD/CAM tools, particularly CATIA and/or SolidWorks.

• Knowledge of tooling design and composite manufacturing processes.

• Good understanding of composite manufacturing technologies and industrial production processes.

• Upper-intermediate level of English.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent organisational skills and technical accuracy.

• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and other departments.

• Teamwork and effective communication skills.

• Strong quality-oriented mindset.
